Trimeric poem

Trimeric poems are very beautiful and also easy to write. If you ask me , this is an amazing form to begin poetry with.

A trimeric consists of four stanzas

The first stanza has four lines and the other three stanzas have three lines each.

The second , third and fourth lines of the first stanza form the first lines of second, third and fourth stanzas. In other words the lines of the first stanza form the first lines of the respective stanzas.

    So the form goes like abcd, b – -, c – -, d – -

Let's consider an example from the very poet who created this form, Dr. Charles . A. Stone :

WHY

I tried to understand why (a)
your whispers turned to silence (b)
when I asked what makes (c)
hearts skip a beat (d)

your whispers turned to silence(b)
and a smile softened your face
but you never answered

when I asked what makes(c)
you smile like that
you smiled again and said

hearts skip a beat (d)
to catch their breaths
between kisses

That's it . As easy as that. There is no  rhyming scheme or meter to be followed.

Tips :

It is best to create a powerful first stanza first as the first lines of the rest of the poem depends on it.

Keep it short and sweet and go on give your pen some exercise now.
