The anapestic rhythm in a limerick is crafted by an accentual pattern, containing a number of sets of double weakly-stressed syllables. The syllable count per line ranges from around 6 syllables in short lines to 8-10 syllables in longer lines. An example of this style is 'There was an Old Man with a beard' by Edward Lear.

Who said, “It is just as I feared!—
Two Owls and a Hen,
Four Larks and a Wren,
Have all built their nests in my beard!” "
