DIZAIN

WHAT IS DIZAIN??

Dizain originated in France and was famous throughout the 15th and 16th century and has also been used by many english poets.It is a  stanza of ten lines, employing eight or ten syllables to the line and having a specific rhyming pattern, as ababbccdcd.

EXAMPLE OF DIZAIN : 

Bonfire, by Robert Lee Brewer

We talked briskly by the light of the fire

with our hands flying about like embers

using Shakespeare to disguise our desire

burning through the soft chill of December.

If there were others, I don't remember--

lost in the flames flickering off your eyes,

my only passion was to memorize

every word and each quirky turn of phrase

leading me through a labyrinth of sighs--

to recall racing through a love-cast maze.

FORMAT OF DIZAIN : 

• One 10-line stanza

• 10 syllables per line

• Employs the following rhyme scheme: ababbccdcd

 

TIPS FOR WRITING DIZAIN : 

• Firstly ; I would advise to avoid cliches as much as you can .

• Rhyming metahors and smiles can be used .

• Try to convey your emotions because dizan is something you should write using your emotion nor your mind neither your heart.

• A nice collection and knowledge of vocabulary would do you good and it might help you write with ease .
